Nexus 7 - Personal Review

The Nexus 7 is a tablet made by Google and Asus. It is simplistic tablet but with powerful specs. It comes in Android Jelly Bean 4.2. Specs The specs for this awesome tablet are outstanding because it is quite cheap to buy. It packs: - 7'' inch with max resolution at : 1280x800 (216ppi) - Dimension: 198.5 x 120 x 10.45 mm - 8GB, 16GB, 32GB Storage Space (32GB is for 3g Models Only) - 1.2MP Front Facing Camera - NVidia Tegra Quad-Core CPU clocking at 1.3GHz - 1GB Ram Connectivity Other than Wifi Connection the tablet offers: - NFC (Android Beam) - Bluetooth - And can be connected via USB Other Features - Accelerometer - GPS - Gyroscope - Microphone - Magnetometer Review (Hardware) I both the Nexus 7 from Amazon for £159 (about €186), at is quite cheap comparing to the Ipad mini and the Kindle Fire HD. The feel of the tablet is quite light, but feels and look well built. It size of the tablet is the best, the Nexus 7 fits perfectly in one hand. The screen is quite bright, indoors I keep the screen brightens level at about 15% because it still quite bright for the web and videos. The button placement could have been placed better although the buttons will not interfere with the user interface the power button should have place somewhere else such as on top or the other side. Games on the Nexus 7 are awesome because of the NVida Tegra 3 , 12 core GPU. That make games look great, some game such as Beach Buggy, Glow Ball and Dead Trigger look awesome. The screen it vivid and rich with color, thank to the high resolution the screen can offer. The tablet is very responsive thank to it's Quad Core CPU. The battery life on the Nexus 7 is very outstanding feature. I used this tablet for 14 hours straight on a Skype call with the screen on and it is quite impressive. (holding in mind that the Wifi is always on and the screen brightness at 15%). And on standby the Nexus 7 can take up to 3 days without a charge. One thing is that if the brightness is full at 100% the battery drained very much faster, for example a 2 hour film may drain up your battery. The camera is not the best there is but it is fine for video chatting, although if you wish to take stunning photo with the tablet, Nexus 7 does not offer that. The Nexus 7 does not have a back facing camera. Review (Operating System) The Nexus 7 comes with Android Jelly Bean 4.2, and the first thing to say is it simply works. The OS has lots of features out of the box, that other none android tablets lack, such to allow third party apps to be install, debugging mode and others.  The Google play is quite a large community with over 700,000 application can be downloaded, some are free and some you have to pay for them. The Play store is easy to use, a you can find virtually any application. The main disadvantage is because Google does not check it's application, some apps may have virus or be hacking tools for other developers. Review (Developing Use) A for the developing aspects the Nexus 7 is great to test out new beta application because it offers quite good specs. The main advantages is that the android SDK is free to download, and it is built on JAVA which is easy to learn. The Android SDK very documented on the google's website. Disadvantages is that is available with eclipse and other great IDE's do not offer simulators such as Eclipse. Personal Rating I give the Nexus 7 a rating of 9.5/10 only because of the button placement other than that the tablet is quite awesome, and you'll more bang for you buck if you are intending to buy this 7inch tablet.  Some Apps I recommend Downloading - Astro File Manager : File Manager, connect to Facebook, Google Drive, Dropbox and Skydrive - Office Suite: Document Viewer and Editor - Word to PDF: Converts Docx to PDF - Splashtop 2: Remote PC control, only local but the screen is clear - Team Viewer: Remote PC control Please Note that this review is a personal review on the product. I only used other products at the store prior purchasing therefore no comparison was done at this point.
